Co-Owners of Rainbeau Ridge Farm
Sustainable Agriculture in Bedford, New York
Lisa Schwartz and Karen Sabath, co-authors of Over the Rainbeau: Living the Dream of Sustainable Farming, are co-owners of Rainbeau Ridge Farm in Bedford. Lisa and Karen have built Rainbeau Ridge into a multifaceted sustainable farm that also offers children’s programming aimed at reshaping the next generation’s relationship with food. Their goal is to educate children from an early age about how their food starts its life on a farm, and to help them become physically invested in everything from growing their own vegetables to learning how to milk goats. Lisa and Karen will speak about Rainbeau Ridge’s hands-on programming for kids and about how food literacy is a process of reconnecting with where food comes from so that we and our children can use real ingredients to cook more healthfully.
Lisa and Karen will be signing their book, Over the Rainbeau: Living the Dream of Sustainable Farming, and copies will be on sale throughout the evening. A portion of the proceeds from book sales will be donated to Oak Lane Child Care Center.
The evening also includes silent auction, wine tasting, fine food and good company.
