As a not-for-profit center, we rely on family involvement to keep our house running smoothly. As homeowners, we are responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the building. Each Oak Lane family is required to help in some way. Aside from providing a much-needed service, and saving the Center money, these joint efforts help foster a sense of family within our Oak Lane community.
Involvement includes:
- Fall Clean-up and Spring Clean-up
(3 hours for each) It is a fun day for the children and siblings to help the parents get the house ready for the next season: rake, mulch, set up summer play huts, and other tasks needed to get classrooms and playgrounds spruced up.
- Fundraising
Participate in several small fundraisers throughout the year – such as book sales.
- Our Large Fundraiser
Participate in our large annual fundraiser. Fundraising is Oak Lane’s main source of the income needed for special purchases – such as playground equipment or computers. In the past, we have had an annual goods-and-services auction. It is a fun filled evening with opportunity to bid on vacation homes, an evening with a renowned wine taster, or tickets to great sporting events. We are also exploring other fundraising options.
